Fitness Pilates is a group exercise programme designed to enhance the posture, strength, balance and stability of healthy adults. Through Pilates based exercise you should:


  • Increase muscular balance and strength
  • Improve your posture
  • Improve core and back strength
  • Improve stabilisation of the core muscles
  • Increase flexibility and strength of the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine

It is not remedial, clinical or diagnostic in its approach but has its base firmly in group fitness.

Why do it?  To improve your general posture and overall health. Pilates strengthens and tones all muscles especially the abdominal and back muscles.

What skills do I need?  No skills required – this course is for everyone.

How will I learn?  You will learn through demonstration and practice.

How much practical work is there?  This course is totally practical.

Who takes it?  This course is intended for everyone of all ages.

However, it is important that you check with your doctor before doing any form of physical exercise that is new to you, particularly if you have a previous or existing medical condition.

What can I do with it?  This course is a leisure course and does not lead to a qualification.  You may find that overall you feel better.

Any other useful information?  Please be aware that you will need to wear comfortable clothing and bring your own Pilates/yoga mat
