The course aims to teach basic yoga postures in a systematic way to increase self-awareness, improve the respiratory and circulatory system, strengthen the spine and limbs, and improve mobility of the joints.
By the end of the course you will have learnt a number of relaxation skills.
What skills do I need? No skills are required. This class will improve general fitness.
How will I learn? You will learn by tutor demonstration and group work.
Will there be coursework? No course work all the classes are practical.
How much practical work is there? The classes are all practical, working on strengthening the spine and limbs and learning relaxation techniques.
Who takes it? Learners of all ages who have an interest in Yoga.
What can I do with it? You will be able to use the skills you have learned in your everyday life, posture- the way you sit, stand and move correctly.
Your breathing will improve to help you to relax, and your body will become more supple.
Any other useful information? Please do not have a heavy meal before the class.
The course will include group work, working in pairs and learning through demonstrations.
Learners must be able to work barefoot, and it is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing.
Learners may wish to equip themselves with the following:
- 1 Mat –non-slip
- 4 blocks
- 1 wooden brick
- 1 belt
- 1 blanket
Equipment can be bought from the tutor.
